Founded in 1965, The Opportunity Center has grown from a small personal development center in the basement of a local nurse's home to a dynamic, innovative leader among service providers.
For more than 50 years, The Opportunity Center has offered our clients an inspiring environment for growth and achievement while keeping up with the changing needs of clients, business partners and community.
From the connection with the Lansing Button Company in 1975 that provided clients paid employment for the first time to contracts with Rayavac, Allan Bradley and 3M, the Opportunity Center continues to add value to our community and the lives of the clients we serve.
The Opportunity Center has grown through innovative thinking and fulfilling needs in the community.
In 2011, Sharing Spaces Kitchen was created as a business incubator for local 'food entrepreneurs' as well as another way for clients to gain social and work skills.
Cafe Hope and Unity Day Services were opened in 2018 in the 'Kozelka' building in downtown Prairie du Chien.
Unity offers services to adults who need enriched social and/ or health supportive assistance in a comfortable, lively atmosphere.
Cafe Hope is the newest 'Sweet Shop' in town that provides vocational and social opportunities for clients as well as delicious goodies to our community and beyond.
